I frequently laugh out loud at some of the letters to the editor at the S.F. Chronicle. People never fail to amuse me with their dumb ideas. But yesterday, there was a letter so ridiculous, I practically did a spit-take.

The phrase “simplistic socialists” has been bouncing around the internet. It has no established definition yet, but generally refers to the kind of people (think of the Oakland City Council) whom we call “woke.” They believe in Big Government—confiscatory taxes to redistribute money to poor people, and sketchy schemes that generally are totally untransparent to the public—but they have no idea of the consequences of their actions.

I think I speak for most, if not all, of the Coalition’s members in stating emphatically that we support the Recall of Sheng Thao, and will do everything, with our limited resources, to help Seneca Scott and his colleagues get the job done.

If Jesus came back and landed in Oakland, he’d be in the mood to kick some ass. Starting with Carroll Fife, Sheng Thao, Nikki Bas, Pamela Price, Cat Brooks and all the other wokes. “I made Oakland a fine, clean, working-class town,” he’d tell them. “And then you came along and ruined it with your muddle-headed nonsense.”

This morning’s breaking news about a massive police presence at People’s Park comes as good news to those of us who (1) recognize the need for more student housing at Cal, and (2) are tired of bored, agitated “activists” breaking the law and repeatedly getting away with it.
