The Coalition is pleased to announce that our 2025 Person of the Year is Loren Taylor. He’s running for Mayor of Oakland, as you probably know. While the bureaucrats who purport to run this town have anointed Barbara Lee, we stand with Loren as a centrist, moderate citizen who is far more qualified than Lee, who is owned lock, stock and barrel by the unions. I’ll have much more to say about this in the following days and weeks.

I’m keeping an eye on the new City Councilman from District 7, Ken Houston, who just may be the breath of fresh air the Council needs.

Just a word to end the week about the L.A. fires. Although they’re 400 miles south, I’ve been glued to the T.V. and streaming radio for days. I have family down there and know the area pretty well. My dear cousin Ellen had to evacuate her home in the Big Rock neighborhood of Malibu. Her home was one of just 17 that survived on her hill, out of hundreds.

Everyone I know is disgusted that Barbara Lee has been anointed as the next Mayor of Oakland. Who anointed her? If you believe the media, it was the unanimous decision of “the people” and “community leaders” who united in support of the 78-year old Congresswoman. But in fact, it was a small, ideological cadre of leftwing racialists and radical union leaders who decided to install Lee, who they know will preserve their special privileges and perks.

If you were a landlord and wanted to evict a tenant of who had been charged with dealing heroin, who possessed illegal firearms, and whose apartment was filled with items apparently stolen from local stores, would you be legally able to?
