So our great Alameda County Board of Supervisors, led by the intrepid Nikki Fortunato Bas, has agreed to divide $1.83 billion from Measure W, the 2020 Gouge-the-Taxpayers tax, into three “buckets,” the largest of which (85%) will go toward what they deem “the county’s long-term strategy to combating homelessness.”
Price, like Nixon, broods in solitude and resentment
Poor Pam. Ingloriously fired by an overwhelming majority of the voters, she is still hurting. Like the criminal ex-president, who spent his final days in exile trying vainly to win back the affection of the American people, Price just can’t accept reality and move on. No, she’s still fighting a battle that literally no one except her cares about.
You’re either for cops, or for crime. Ain’t no middle ground
It’s fashionable these days to sound moderate in all things, including being able to sit down with your political opponents and find consensus. I’m all in favor of that—up to a point. But when it comes to supporting or opposing our cops, I’m in no mood to compromise. If you try to cut OPD’s budget, or hamper their efforts in any way, then you’re a cop hater—and in my book, that means you support criminals and the crimes they commit.
Warning: Oakland is coming for your money
Your mind isn’t working
One thing I wonder about all the time is why people in Oakland vote for the most woke, progressive candidates. It’s such a puzzle. Carroll Fife, Barbara Lee, Nikki Bas, Rebecca Kaplan and their type have driven Oakland into the ground, as any sentient being realizes. A walk downtown should be alarming enough to shock voters, with block after block of shuttered shops, nail parlors, smoke stores and convenience marts. If that doesn’t do the trick, how about the zombies wandering around, like extras from a horror movie? Or the corporations that leave Oakland on almost a daily basis. So why do people continue to vote for the idiots who got us into this mess?
