East Bay Insiders wrote yesterday that the Alameda County Reparations Commission is set to release its “long-awaited final report” soon, so that the full report can be “presented to the Board of Supervisors on June 23.”

As an American Jew, the conflict in the Middle East is challenging for me to parse. One the one hand, and as a child who grew up in the aftermath of World War II and the Holocaust, I’ve always had great empathy with the State of Israel. First, Hitler tried to remove Jewry from Europe. Then, for my entire life, Islamic nations surrounding Israel continued their anti-Jew crusade, and tried to drive it into the Mediterranean Sea.

I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that the city government Oakland currently has does not represent me or my values.

It would be awfully expensive to make the minimum wage in Oakland $30 an hour, which is what progressives are proposing. But not to worry! Babs and the wokes on the City Council have a plan!

I had coffee yesterday with my friend, Sgt. Huy Nguyen, the president of the Oakland Police Officers Association. He had just returned from a memorial service for the four Oakland cops who were slain in the line of duty on March 21, 2009, by a convicted felon who was wanted at that time for a parole violation.
