Democrats are afraid of woke reaction syndrome. Over the last five years, public reaction against wokeism has grown so severe that most Democrats now claim to have seen nothing, heard nothing that could possibly connect them to it.

“Peak woke” is a phrase I hadn’t heard until James Talarico, the Texas Democrat running for Senate, allegedly remarked that “Peak Woke got weird” in explaining why he backed off from woke’s more extreme utterances, such as “God is non-binary.”

I really like Oakland Report (https://www.oaklandreport.org) and have come to depend on it for their reliable reporting. But they published something really silly yesterday and I just can’t resist a little snark.

I’m sure you’ve noticed the tents and tables around Lake Merritt, especially on the weekends, where vendors sell items (food, beverages, clothing, cosmetics, jewelry, electronic devices, etc.). They line up along Lakeshore Avenue, wind through the Pergola area and then down Grand Avenue to Bellevue.

It was the lead story on the news last night, and muckraking media like KTVU-TV made the most of it, hoping to drive up their declining ratings and turn the public against the Oakland Police Department again, as they have for years.
