Let's get together!

In the wake of our successful turnout this week regarding the nextdoor.com matter, it’s been suggested that we call a meeting of everyone interested in the Coalition for a Better Oakland.

Over the past year, we considered calling an in-person meeting, but decided against it, what with the risk of COVID. We did have a Zoom meeting about six months ago, but few people showed up. But after dozens of us emailed nextdoor.com, I’m hoping that we can gather a pretty good group. So here’s my thinking.

How about we meet at Lakeside Park (Lake Merritt) sometime this month? We can find a nice place on the grass somewhere, bring snacks and blankets to sit on, and have an informal time. No particular agenda, just meet-and-greet and toss some ideas around. Saturday or Sunday would probably be best for those of us with jobs, maybe sometime around noon. We’re getting into summer, so the weather should cooperate.

I’d like to get an idea of how many of you will participate, so can you let me know? In addition to me, Jack Saunders, whom many of you know as our Recording Secretary, will be there, and Todd Soderberg, our Treasurer. You’ll also meet Seneca Scott (if you haven’t already), who’s running for Mayor, although this won’t be a political event; he’ll be there as a CBO member.

So let me know if you can make it. Meanwhile, have a great, safe weekend!
