The S.F. Chronicle’s claim this morning that no one knows why Floyd Mitchell quit—“Mitchell’s reasons unclear”—is total bullshit. But it’s only to be expected from the woke rag that has harassed every police chief Oakland has had for years.
Everyone knows why Mitchell quit: he was hounded from office, as were all his predecessors since Libby Schaaf was mayor. The same forces that have kept Oakland mired in crime have now succeeded in forcing out yet another police chief.
It was obvious to lots of us that Floyd Mitchell’s time at OPD was limited. I realized it when Sheng Thao, his boss, compelled him to appear beside her as she fought her recall. I saw them together at an appearance in the Hills. Poor Mitchell. He didn’t want to be there. He had to put on his happy face and make believe he supported the mayor. But his body language told the truth: he was humiliated. A strong, proud man, he seemed to be in chains, while Thao treated him like her plantation house n****r.
I remember thinking, Goodbye, Chief, and God bless you. You never had a chance.
Oakland has had something like thirteen police chiefs in the last 14 years. There’s a reason for this instability that will come as no surprise to my readers: there’s an element out there there’s hostile to the idea of law enforcement. This element is unnaturally powerful. It can hire chiefs and it can fire them. It does not want a chief of police who is capable, who can lead the department effectively and has the ability to fight crime. Quite the opposite: this element wants a timid, obedient lapdog who will be a symbolic chief of police but not a real one.
Who is this element?
First, there’s the mayor. The current one is Barbara Lee, but past mayors—Sheng Thao, Jean Quan—were also guilty. Then there’s the City Council. Most of the members we’ve had over the years have been active conspirators in the coup against cops. Some are gone—Rebecca Kaplan, Nikki Bas--yet retain positions of power elsewhere. Others remain, particularly the truly evil Carroll Fife. I question the sincerity of others, including Kevin Jenkins, Ramachandran and Rowena Brown. I question the intellectual ability of Noel Gallo, who has stood mute even as the anti-police cult has destroyed the city he purports to love.
Leading the coup element is the man who has done the most damage to OPD, Robert Warshaw. I publicly accuse him of deliberately wrecking public safety in Oakland in order to protect his million-dollar salary. The man is morally corrupt. He bears culpability for every shooting death in Oakland for the last twenty years because of his unceasing war on cops. I blame also his magisterial protector and enabler, Judge Orrick. And Warshaw’s associates, James Chanin and John Burris, two ambulance-chasing lawyers who have built their fortunes from suing cops. I blame the woke media, who control public information, for aiding and abetting these criminals. I will name the Chronicle and Oaklandside for injecting their far-left ideologies into their reporting, thereby misleading the public and undermining public safety.
There are others I could name. I would also include as defendants every member of the Oakland Police Commission and the Oakland Privacy Commission. Citizens must understand that we are in a war between the forces of crime and racial insanity, on the one hand, and the peace, law and order the rest of us crave and love. The so-called “progressives” that control this town are on the side of crime and death, and there’s no small amount of reverse-racism in their ideology. We can no longer pretend this war isn’t real. There is a monstrous machine on the far left that is trying to extend its control of our city for their own benefit while the rest of us go to hell. They will not rest until they have completely destroyed Oakland and made it a ghetto of criminality and dirt.
Am I pissed? You bet. I’ve had it with these people. Forcing Mitchell out was a red line they crossed. They’re daring us to do something about it. Let’s accept their offer, starting with the traitor, Warshaw. He must go, and he must be prosecuted for his crimes against the People of Oakland.
