At 2:27 p.m. yesterday afternoon, nextdoor.com capitulated and let Jack Saunders back onto the platform.

First, I want to thank everyone who took the time to write to nextdoor.com in response to my plea yesterday. We had a record number of you urge nextdoor to reinstate Jack Saunders. We don’t know what will happen; yesterday was Memorial Day, and possibly the nextdoor.com people weren’t at work. Today, we’ll see what happens. I’ll let you know. But we’re not done fighting. This travesty of political censorship at nextdoor has got to end.

I don’t know if you noticed, but former OPD Chief Anne Kirkpatrick, who was fired without cause by Libby Schaaf in one of Schaaf’s more egregious acts, just won her lawsuit against the city. She had accused Oakland of wrongfully terminating her, and a Federal jury agreed.

The City Council yesterday voted unanimously to put their controversial “progressive business tax” on the November ballot.

My neighborhood, Adams Point, is relatively free of the worst problems connected to homelessness. I say “relatively” because, as bad as things here are, I know they’re far worse elsewhere.
